Hippie Chic

The hippie culture was first introduced during the mid 1960's according to Wikipedia.com. Like most movements of old, fashion always seems to come around full circle and the hippie influence is NO different. Hippies explored with clothing such as bell bottoms, dashikis, peasant shirts, full skirts, sandals, vests, tie - dye, and other bright "psychedelic" colors! Today's post will explore how to look take a modernized approach to dressing hippie chic!

GET THE LOOK
Vanessa Hudgens looks like a modern day hippie in her crochet vest, floral headband, and cropped floral shirt. I recreated the look to show you that simple pieces (like a vest, cutoffs, cowboy booties, sunglasses etc.) can pull an entire concept together to help you obtain a hippie chic vibe.

Solange Covers Complex Magazine

Solange has slowly risen to one of my favorite fashionista's in the game! She has come out the shadows of her mega superstar sister, Beyonce' into her own pair of heels and has taken the fashion industry by storm. She recently covered Complex magazine and slayed the scene in her sizzling beachwear.

Today's post will be very short and sweet. I just wanted to display a photo montage of the best of Solange's photos from the magazine shoot, because these photos are just to hot not to share.

Solange definitely got red hot sporting retro swimsuits and high waist cutoffs helping her exude her inner sunshine. Her big Diana Ross - esque hair and her scarlet lips make the outfits pop in a great way! These pics definitely motivate me to get in the gym so I can be #summertimefly in time for summer :)

African Prints

They say all civilization sprang from the Motherland aka Mother Africa. African Prints have been around for centuries in fashion circles. But more and more we've seen runway fashion and celebrities sport rich colors, prints, and patterns which originated from our African natives.

CELEBS IN AFRICAN PRINTS
Solange (the younger sister of Beyonce) has truly found her fashion niche! She is the queen of taking bold prints and colors and mixing them flawlessly to create a masterpiece. Her coiled fro helps to highlight her cool soulfulness. Draya Michelle, Elle Varner, and Rihanna showed us how to incorporate African prints on a daily basis.

These celebs are inspiration for creating your own personal lookbooks with African prints. If you want to be further inspired here is my take on how to create dope ensembles that feature African print.

BLAZE ON
This African print blazer helps to create a bold statement. The denim cutoffs with the cropped black cami and black cutout wedges help to create an edgier look. I absolutely LOVE the golden Africa shaped earrings (which I found searching Etsy.com).

MIXING PRINTS
If you are bold enough to pull off mixing prints, GO FOR IT! This look takes some African printed pants and matches it with a striped cropped shirt. The neutral colored vest and fringed sandals help to tone down the graphic prints.

TUMBLR ROUNDUP
Here is a roundup of some African prints that I found on Tumblr! This is simply a visual montage to get you excited about purchasing African print to add to your spring/summer lineup. I am in love with the Kente Cloth turban, bow ties, and earrings.

Hopefully you have an awesome day! Happy Monday luvs.

Romper Rundown

Have you ever stood in your closet and said "what the heck am I going to wear today?" I know I've been in that boat plenty of times before. It seems that nothing in your closet jumps out at you as you stand there in a fashion dilemma. But let me bring you some good news! There is a solution to your "I don't have anything to wear" days...and it's called THE ROMPER!

romp·er

/ˈrämpər/

Noun
  1. A young child's one-piece outer garment.
  2. A similar item of clothing for adults, typically worn as overalls or as sports clothing.

The definition of a romper makes it seem very adolescent, but in all actuality rompers are anything but child's play. They can be chic, playful, feminine, and stylish. The best thing about rompers are, once you have the perfect one you are 80% dressed. What do I mean by that? By selecting a romper to wear you will solve your "I don't have anything to wear" dilemma. All you will have to worry about once your romper is selected are the shoes and accessories (if you choose to wear any) which you will pair with the romper. Rompers can make any woman feel like a sleek fashionista! Check out how to take this trend from day to night below with the help of some familiar celebrity faces and romper outfit inspirations that I have created!

DAYTIME ROMPER
These gorgeous gals (Beyonce, Solange, and Meagan Good) show us how to effortlessly wear a romper during the day. These simple short jumpers are cute in solids or patterns and allow these ladies  to look AMAZING no matter what the day may bring!

STYLING YOUR DAYTIME ROMPER
This lace romper and denim jacket are the perfect combo for a daytime of fun in the sun. Adding the wedges, white sunglasses, striped bag, and gold watch help to effortlessly pull this soft, romantic look together.

NIGHTTIME ROMPER RENDEZVOUS
During the nighttime you can ramp up the glam factor when it comes to rompers. Choose fabrics such as sequins, lace, or sheer chiffon to add texture to your romper. Crank it to the max with high stilettos that elongate your legs, and blinged out accessories so you can get noticed across the room like these lovely ladies (Kim Kardashian, Meagan Good, NeNe Leakes, and Rihanna).

STYLING YOUR ROMPER FOR A NIGHT OUT
This sheer rompers ramps up the sexy factor to 10. The lace bra gives the romper a more feminine flare while the all black accessories an edgy, chic nighttime vibe!

So as you can see, rocking a romper is very simplistic once you get an idea what you should pair it with. Now your romper can be your spring/summer staple "go - to " piece when you just have NOTHING to wear.

Will rompers be in your "must wear" item of the week rotation?
