Ali's Fashion Sense 2013 Year In Review

2013 sure has been a good year. I've had a lot of successes, failures, highs, and lows. I've found out what I'm truly made of and have come to the conclusion that it's ok not to always have it together. Those things we title imperfections make us (me) the quirky people we are! Simply put, I wouldn't change a thing about 2013. And I'm SUPER EXCITED about what's in store for 2014!!! I'm declaring today that it's gonna be an awesome year. But before the clock strikes midnight and a new year rings in, lets take a look back at some of my fav fashion moments on Ali's Fashion Sense.

What were your favorite moments, trends, outfits, memories of 2013? What are your goals for next year? I just want to say I thank you all from the bottom of my heart for going along on this journey with me as I evolve as a fashion blogger. 2014 has some awesome things in store and I can't wait to share those special moments with you. In the mean time be safe tonight!!! Happy New Years Eve :)

With lots of love,

When I'm Feeling Gray

I've been in Seattle enjoying family, new sites, meeting new people, and of course taking pictures! It's been an amazing trip as you will see in future posts this week. While I've been on this trip I've picked up a couple staple pieces from an array of malls and shops I've been too around the Seattle (WA), Portland (OR), and Vancouver (Canada). Today's post will showcase one of the pieces I picked up on my day trip to Portland, Oregon where shopping is...TAX FREE! I picked up this little jewel at H&M and paid $25 flat! It was worth every penny.

FEELING GRAY
This gray furry (teddy - bear) jacket is as warm as it looks and is such a conversation piece. I love how it looks visually and was excited to pair it with some of the items that I packed with me from my closet. Since the jacket is such a knockout I wanted to let it shine, so I paired it with all black and a "pop" of color (with my oxblood accessories).

Outfit details: Furry Jacket: H&M, Statement Necklace: Charlotte Russe, Leather Tee: Off The 5th, Black Skinny Jeans: Old Navy, Lace - Up Booties: Charlotte Russe, Snakeskin Clutch: Target, Oxblood Beanie: Borrowed from my Dad, Cocktail Ring: Forever 21

Can you believe we only have 2 more days in 2013??? This year flew by! Be sure and enjoy these last fleeting moments in 2013. And I will see you tomorrow :)

Dressed in Holiday Style

"City sidewalks, busy sidewalks dressed in holiday style..." It's getting closer and closer to Christmas! Five days to be exact. And I'm excited that I'm going to get the chance to spend my holiday season with family! So here's to traveling in style.

AIRPORT CHIC
As we traveled to Seattle,WA I wanted to be comfortable for the lengthy five hour flight. So I chose comfy fabrics that can be layered, using a neutral color palette (grays, navy's, and browns). I even used my hubby as my muse, and styled him so we could be semi - coordinated, and look good as a unit. #TEAMANDERSON  Check out the looks below.

HERS: Navy and White Striped Dress: JC Penney, Gray Cardigan: JC Penny, Navy Tights: Target, Brown Riding Boots: Forever 21, Lock & Key Charm Necklace: Charlotte Russe,
Watch: Charming Charlie's, Caramel Cape: TJ Maxx

HIS: Gray Pullover Sweater: H&M, Cargo Pants: Rocawear Store, Polo Boots: Footlocker

Traveling can be fun if you look and feel comfortable. And I must say I felt great in these casual, classic threads. And my hubby looked pretty handsome (if I must say so myself)! :)  I hope you have a fun weekend (make sure you get your last minute Christmas shopping on if you haven't done so)! And I will see you all on Monday.

The Trick to Flying Chic

Tis' the season for holiday traveling. So why not look your best while doing so? This post will give you a few tricks so you can conquer your airport catwalk and travel in style.

With the stress of traveling and the hustle and bustle of the crowded airports during the holiday season the last thing you want to do is feel uncomfortable or inappropriately dressed for a long flight/day of travel. So here are a couple tips to help ensure you always "fly chic."

Tip #1: Layering is key. The biggest thing to remember when traveling is to layer basic, simple, unfussy pieces that will keep you warm, be easy to slip on or off, keep you comfortable, and make you look and feel chic. Here are some pieces you may want to consider:

  • Chunky sweater
  • Scarf
  • Fedora
  • Cardigan
  • Stretchy dark/black jeans
  • Ballet flats
  • Riding boots
  • Watch
  • Overcoat
  • Basic Tee

Tip #2: Wear a pair of comfortable shoes, you never know what the day may bring (you may be running to get to your concourse or trekking miles to get to your gate, and the last thing you want is your feet hurting). So that means leave your shoes with the umpteenth number of buckles or the lace ups pumps packed in your suitcase.
