I got a few new pieces to jump start my summer wardrobe (Linen Blazer, Nautical Romper, Tribal Patterned Poncho, Black Framed Clark Kent Glasses, Crackle Nail Polish, Nars Bronzer & Illuminator, Sephora Coral Lip Gloss). I'm super excited about my purchases and can't wait to put them into the summer rotation. Check out a few pieces I've worn thus far! What are your summer necessities, you can't live without?

Global Bizarre!!

It's been a long time, I shouldn't have left you....so, I know it's been a while. A lot has taken place since I've last blogged, but that's neither here nor there (I promise I will do better, I gotta get the hang of this blogging thing). I felt super inspired to blog tonight, so I just wanted to show you what I've been up to these last few days. This week, I've been loving the bold prints!!!! Here are a few examples of what I've been rocking (global, bold, colorful prints). It's always good to tone down the rest of your outfit when wearing such bold prints.
Dress/Tunic & Denim Jacket from Forever 21, Wedges from Charlotte Rouse, Earrings from Flea Market

Tank & Layered Lock & Key Chain Necklace from Forever 21, Black Denim Jeans & Chain/Leather Bracelet from Target, Booties & Bronze Stud Earrings from Aldo, Bag (I can't remember)

Love Is In The Air!!!

This past weekend was one of the most memorable weekends of my life! Accompanied by my boyfriend, Derrek we headed to the "Red - Stick" aka Baton Rouge, LA for his college roommate's wedding. As a kid I hated weddings! They were boring sappy ceremonies, where you had to dress up (SN: I absolutely hated dresses as a little girl) in an itchy dress, be quiet, and be still while adults cried and rejoiced as the happy couple walked down the aisle in their wedding bliss.

As an adult I have grown very fond of weddings!  My boyfriend and I always talked about our "future" wedding and what it would look like. I began to fantasize on a daily basis about the colors, and the dresses, the guest-list, the reception etc. But those thoughts were put on hold as we were gearing up for the Gray's Wedding. It was a warm Saturday evening. I was uber excited because I was able to wear a sleeveless dress seeing that the temperature was in the high 80s (while back in MI it was a cool 50 degrees). We headed to the church (late of course, BEAUTY takes time...) to witness the union of two wonderful people.

The wedding  turned out to be absolutely beautiful. I love the concept of true black love. There is nothing quite like it. Coming down from the high of the wedding there was one more celebration to take place (at least so I thought). We celebrated my boyfriend's 26th birthday the following day. After going to dinner and gearing up for a movie we went to the Water Front for a romantic detour before the movie began. As we began to reflect on our relationship my boyfriend (or should I say my fiance) surprised me the ULTIMATE fashion accessory....."An Engagement Ring!" I was filled with 1000 emotions at once (joy, happiness, surprise, love, bliss, etc.). To say the least I ended the night feeling like "today was a good day" *in my Ice Cube voice*. Needless to say, we didn't make it to the movies :)

Inspiration

As I was driving to work (bright and early this morning) and the soothing pattern of raindrops hit my windshield I began to marvel at God's creations. Sometimes it's good to take time out and stop to realize nature's beauty around you (i.e. birds chirping, green grass, blue skies, raindrops hitting your window seal etc.). In the world of fashion, inspiration can be drawn from anywhere. Graffiti on an expressway underpass, structured architecture, and even snowflake patterns. My fashion inspiration changes daily. Many things inspire my wardrobe choices and merit my final clothing selection for the day (my mood, my daily activities, my hairstyle etc.). The greatest thing about fashion is once you are inspired you draw your own conclusions and interpret outfit selections based on your personal preference. I wanted to share a couple of fashion books that have inspired me and helped to jump start my creative wheels to a chic, sleek "new" me:

1. InStyle's book: "The New Secrets of Style" by the Editors at InStyle - I got this book last year sometime on Amazon for less than $30
2. Lauren Conrad's (from Laguna Beach & The  Hills) book: "Style" - I picked up this book from Target last week for $19.99

Check out these great reads for yourself. Use your inspiration to tap into your creative side, and go out today looking and feeling like your most fabulous self!
