[Jump]Suited

I attended the Pink Diamond Fashion Show at the Cherry Blossom Festival in Macon, GA over the weekend. During the show I was inspired by a scene that featured some really cute jumpsuits in bold, bright colors just in time for the heatwave that Spring will bring (eventually). My obsession with jumpsuits along with my inspiration from the show prompted me to reach in my closet and select one of my good ole' faithful jumpsuits (that I purchased from Forever 21 years ago) to wear to church Sunday morning. Since it was a little chilly outside I added a crisp white button up underneath my sleeveless jumpsuit to help layer and add an unexpected dimension to the outfit. I threw on my faux fur vest, black sandals, fedora, a chunky statement necklace, a blinged out cocktail ring, and a deep maroon lippie and my Sunday look was complete.

Outfit Details: Jumpsuit (Forever 21), Faux Fur Vest (Forever 21), Sandals (Forever 21), Button- Up (Old Navy), Fedora (H&M), Necklace (Charlotte Russe)

Ali's Fashion Tip of the Day: If you have a sleeveless jumpsuit or romper add a button up shirt underneath to create a more polished look and to keep your arms warm until the temperatures warm up. During the summer months shed the button up and add a cute moto jacket or blazer to carry your jumpsuit from day to night!

Happy Monday luvs.

Stripes & Socks

Stripes are always fun and bold, especially when they come on a dress with tulle. You can't go wrong with tulle! It makes you feel so girly lol! I paired this cutesy dress with the below the knee socks, patent leather pumps, and a denim jacket. It feels like I'm channeling my inner "Cher & Dion" from Clueless with the socks lol. I put my hair in a messy ponytail and added a ruby lip. TIP: black and white with a red lip does wonders.

Outfit Details: Dress (Ce La Vie), Denim Jacket (Forever 21), MK Watch (Macy's), Socks (DSW), Pumps (DSW)

TGIF Luvs!!! See ya Monday. Have a good weekend!

Floral Trousers

Georgia has been on a temperature roller coaster. It simply cannot make up it's mind. Last week I was donning a sleeveless maxi with sandals and this week, I'm wearing a sweater and boots. Seriously? Just because Mother Nature can't make up her mind doesn't mean I can't usher in spring the right way. I grabbed my pastel floral jeans, my denim button up, a gray sweater, my riding boots and created this soft spring get - up as I headed to class bright and early Monday morning.

Hopefully, Mother Nature will make up her mind sooner than later, so we can REALLY enjoy spring. In the meantime, stay fab and bundled up my luvs! Happy Hump Day.

Billowing Sleeves & Track Pants

If you've been reading Ali's Fashion Sense you know that I love to gather inspiration from magazines, other bloggers, or from simply creating combinations from my very own closet. I was perusing through the April edition of Instyle Magazine when I ran across an article called "Billowing Sleeves." I was first drawn to the black and white color combination (one of my favorite color combos). Then I noticed that they were discussing shirts with "puffy" sleeves, and I got excited, because I realized I have a shirt with similar structure. I ran to my closet grabbed my puffy sleeve button up, paired it with my leather track pants, sandals, and threw my white blazer over my shoulders to complete the look.

Snapshot taken on iPad from Instyle's Digital April Edition, Pg 138 "Billowing Sleeve"

Outfit Details: Billowing Sleeves Shirt (K&G), Leather Track Pants (Online Boutique), White Blazer (H&M), Sandals (Forever 21), Snakeskin Clutch (Target), Gold Watch (Charming Charlie's).

If there is NOTHING else you take from reading Ali's Fashion Sense, take this. Use the tools around you like magazines, social media, or bloggers to get inspired. You don't have to be literal, but gaining inspiration from outside sources can really help you stretch the pieces in your closet even further! Happy Monday luvs!!!!

The Windy Blues

The past few days, it truly has felt like a GA spring. We've had sunny 70 degree days, with no clouds in the sky, which prompted me to pull out one of my favorite maxi dresses. I don't even remember where I bought this dress but I love the lightness, comfortable, easy going spirit of this maxi! It was really windy on Wednesday, so I pulled out my navy cardigan. I wanted to change up my hair a little bit so I decided to re-create this simple milk-braid style which I snagged from Mattieologie's Youtube Channel (check out her tutorial video here). I added my DIY floral headband (if you didn't see that blog post check it out here) to add an element of suprise. I love how this simple look came together so flawlessly. And the "Heroine" M.A.C lippe (which is one of my favs at the moment) just compliments the blue hues so well.

Outfit Details: Maxi (Marshall's...I think), White Sandals (Charming Charlie's), Cardigan (Wet Seal), Floral Headband (DIY), MK Watch (Macy's), Statement Necklace (Kiosk), Heroine Lippie (M.A.C)

Are you excited as me to get your maxis into rotation! I know it's been a harsh winter around the country, so we are all ready for spring/summer greatness!!! Have a good weekend luvs. See you back here bright and early Monday morning.

Behind the Scenes: The Day in the Life of a Fashion Stylist

Have you ever met someone that was so similar to you? The same personality? Similar Style? Almost like your are long lost twins or kindred spirits? Well, that's how I feel about my good friend, Ashley Monique! She's a rising stylist here in the state of GA working hard and making moves. Last week I had the privilege of getting my feet wet in the world of styling thanks to Ashley Monique! She extended an invitation to let me tag along and be her assistant for a two day bridal photo shoot. I must admit it was an awesome experience seeing the designer make amazing creations by hand, meeting models, assisting with model fittings, seeing the photographer capture story lines behind her lenses, watching the makeup artists and stylist work hand - in - hand to create a land of fantasy and awe. I felt like I was channeling my inner fashion stylist besties (at least in my head) Mama June Ambrose, and Rachel Zoe. Here are some behind the scene shots of the 2 day bridal shoot.

*Disclaimer: I shot all the behind the scenes photos you will see today on my personal camera, but to see the "official" shots from the shoot check out the photographers amazing photos here

As you can see it was 2 days of jammed packed action. You never know all it takes behind the scenes to make photos look so polished. I have a new appreciation for models, designers, stylists, photographers, mua's everyone who are involved on a daily basis with creating amazing photo shoots for magazines, ads, etc.
