Whats Hot: Ombre

Monica with Softly Curled Ombre (Sidebar: love Monica's look)

This post has nothing to do with your clothes and EVERYTHING to do with your hair. I'm talking about the ombre hair trend. This blended goodness takes your tresses and catapults them to a new level of fierceness! Celebs and women across the globe are obsessing over this style. I'm even thinking of taking a dive into the ombre pool for my wedding do!

I wouldn't recommend dying your own hair without a trusted stylist (who specializes in healthy hair), but if you want to experiment with color (but NOT on your real hair) add your favorite tracks and put a spin on this classic coloring technique. Ladies (and gents) remember: there is no right or wrong ombre! Check the celebs below for some inspiration.

Classic Presidential Swag

When you think of the First Lady of the United States (FLOTUS), aka Mrs. Michelle Obama what words come to mind? For me, some of the best descriptive words are: style icon, grace, confidence, comfortable in her own skin, risk taker, calm - cool - and collected (just to name a few). The FLOTUS has been such a style icon to all women (young and old, breaking down color barriers) since she first stepped on the scene as the helpmate to the most powerful man in the US, President Barack Obama back in 2008. Since she's hit the White House, there has been one constant that has remained the same. Her flawless style! To pay homage to her and to celebrate the woman she has become, I put together this blog post highlighting her beauty, her elegance, and her timeless fashion choices. I hope you enjoy :)

  • Cardigan
  • Kitten Heels
  • Dresses: Sheath, Sleeveless, One Shoulder, Little Black
  • Trench Coat
  • Bold Accessories: Chunky Necklaces, Drop Earrings, Colorful Broaches
  • Bright Colors
  • Color Blocking
  • Skinny Belts

Take a note out of Mrs.O's fashion notebook! She has found a timeless style that works for her lifestyle, eccentuates her body type, and allows her to connect with women from all around the globe! That's what you call #CLASSICPRESIDENTIALSWAG

Staying Fit

America, is obsessed with the idea of getting into shape and living a healthy lifestyle. Just count the amount of times you see commercials targeted toward some type of weight loss program, diet pills, or gym membership/equipment in an average day. It's all about helping people STAY FIT!

Just  like we need our bodies to stay fit, we also need our clothes to FIT PROPERLY! This blog post is dedicated to help you find what silhouettes fit your body type best. But, first before you know what type of clothes to buy, you MUST know your body type. Below are the different categories of body types. Keep in mind you can fall in more than one body type category. This post will serve as a reference to get you pointed in the right direction while you are shopping for clothes that suit your shape best!
Apple, Pear, Hourglass, and Rectangle figures

Strawberry Figure

If you are an apple shaped fashionista, you usally tend to carry more weight around the mid section, without a well-defined waist.

What you should wear if you are apple shaped
  • Empire line
  • Longer length tops
  • Low necklines to draws eyes upward

What not to wear if you are apple shaped
  • Short boxy jackets
  • Pleats
  • Tiered Skirts

Celebrity Apples
Queen Latifah, Jessica Simpson, and Oprah

For my pear shaped divas, you tend to be bottom heavy (bigger aorund the hips, bottom, and thighs). You usally have a flatter stomach.

What you should wear if you are pear shaped
  • Bright Tops
  • Large collars, lapels, sleeves
  • You want to draw attention to your top half opposed to your bottom
What not to wear if you are pear shaped
  • Tight ill-fitting tube, pencil, or fishtail skirts which emphasize hips and bottom
Celebrity Pears
The First Lady of the United States - Mrs. Michelle Obama, Beyonce', Alicia Keys

For my strawberry glamazons you are built with broader shoulder and/or a bigger chest, narrow hips, and usually lean legs.

What you should wear if you are strawberry shaped:
  • Full Skirts
  • Wide Leg Trousers
  • Bright colors on bottom
  • V - Necks
  • Wrap tops
What not to wear if you are strawberry shaped:
  • Shoulder Pads
  • Trousers that taper at the bottom
  • Puff Sleeves

Celebrity Strawberries
Naomi Campbell, Lala Vazquez-Anthony, Sherri Shepard

My hourglass vixens have the most commonly recognized shape. If you have an hourglass figure you have a full bust and bottom, accompanied by a small waist.

What you should wear if you have an hourglass figure:
  • Wrap Dresses
  • Waist Cinching Belts
  • Flared or Wide Leg Jeans/Trousers

What not to wear if you have an hourglass figure:
  • Huge baggy clothes with no definition
  • Shapeless Jumpers

Celebrity Hourglasses
Kim Kardashian, Amber Riley from Glee, Halle Berry

Lastly, if you have a fiercely shaped rectangle body, you have a straight up and down figure (not as many curves). Normally you have really long legs and torso.

What you should wear if you have a rectagle figure:
  • Structured coats
  • Items that cinch your waist (belts) to create curves

What not to wear if you have a rectangle figure
  • Low rise jeans/trousers

Celebrity Rectangles
Cameron Diaz, Ciara, Hiliary Duff

No matter what shape or size you are, celebrate the body that God created specifically for you. You can be fabulous no matter if you are pear, strawberry, apple shaped or if you have an hourglass or rectangular figure. If you look fabulous you feel fabulous!!!!
