America, is obsessed with the idea of getting into shape and living a healthy lifestyle. Just count the amount of times you see commercials targeted toward some type of weight loss program, diet pills, or gym membership/equipment in an average day. It's all about helping people STAY FIT!

Just  like we need our bodies to stay fit, we also need our clothes to FIT PROPERLY! This blog post is dedicated to help you find what silhouettes fit your body type best. But, first before you know what type of clothes to buy, you MUST know your body type. Below are the different categories of body types. Keep in mind you can fall in more than one body type category. This post will serve as a reference to get you pointed in the right direction while you are shopping for clothes that suit your shape best!

Apple, Pear, Hourglass, and Rectangle figures

BODY SHAPES FOR WOMEN
Apple
If you are an apple shaped fashionista, you usally tend to carry more weight around the mid section, without a well-defined waist.

  • Low necklines to draws eyes upward

What not to wear if you are apple shaped
  • Short boxy jackets
  • Pleats
  • Tiered Skirts

Pear
For my pear shaped divas, you tend to be bottom heavy (bigger aorund the hips, bottom, and thighs). You usally have a flatter stomach.

What you should wear if you are pear shaped
  • Bright Tops
  • Large collars, lapels, sleeves
  • You want to draw attention to your top half opposed to your bottom

Strawberry
For my strawberry glamazons you are built with broader shoulder and/or a bigger chest, narrow hips, and usually lean legs.

  • Full Skirts
  • Wide Leg Trousers
  • Bright colors on bottom

Hourglass
My hourglass vixens have the most commonly recognized shape. If you have an hourglass figure you have a full bust and bottom, accompanied by a small waist.

What you should wear if you have an hourglass figure:
  • Wrap Dresses
  • Waist Cinching Belts
  • Flared or Wide Leg Jeans/Trousers

What not to wear if you have an hourglass figure:
  • Huge baggy clothes with no definition
  • Shapeless Jumpers

Rectangle
Lastly, if you have a fiercely shaped rectangle body, you have a straight up and down figure (not as many curves). Normally you have really long legs and torso.

What you should wear if you have a rectagle figure:
  • Structured coats
  • Items that cinch your waist (belts) to create curves

What not to wear if you have a rectangle figure
  • Low rise jeans/trousers

No matter what shape or size you are, celebrate the body that God created specifically for you. You can be fabulous no matter if you are pear, strawberry, apple shaped or if you have an hourglass or rectangular figure. If you look fabulous you feel fabulous!!!!
