30 Day Challenge

On Wednesday, June 1...I decided "ENOUGH WAS ENOUGH!" I've offered my sentiments here on Ali's Fashion Sense on weight gain, getting used to my "new" body with added mass accompanied by stretch marks, a rounder tummy, and thicker thighs. I've ripped off the veil showing you my everyday struggles of simply fitting into the clothes hanging in my closet. As a "fashion/style" blogger it makes it harder to do style blogs when you can barely fit anything...without the extra - stretch. While I believe you should "love the me, you see" I believe there is nothing wrong with making the BEST version of you (me) as possible. That is why I decided to do the Black Girls Workout Too 30 Day Challenge. In the next 30 days I want to adopt a new lifestyle with better eating habits, a more consistent workout regimen, and an attempt to drink more water on a daily basis.

This 30 Day Challenge is not for the faint of heart. It requires discipline, focus, and mental tenacity.
The originators of the challenge had this quote on their Instagram the other day, and it couldn't ring further from the truth. I had to prepare my mind before starting this regimen. It's easy to start but staying faithful and committed not just to the plan but to yourself is a whole other thing to endure.

The Challenge Rules:
Week 1: Is all about  FRUIT & VEGGIES! The first week is when you detox your body with loads of fruits and vegetables with no meat. While there are many restrictions for the first seven days you are allowed to have the following on a daily basis:

  • 4 Egg Whites
  • 2 Cups of Brown Rice
  • 1 Cup of Oatmeal (NO SUGAR)
  • 2 Cups of Low Fat/Skim/Soy Milk

OATMEAL + BERRIES RECIPE
  • 1 Cup of Oats
  • 1 3/4 Cups of Water
  • 4 - 5 Strawberries, Sliced (washed)
  • Handful of Blueberries (washed)

*No sugar or sweeteners added besides fresh fruit

FLUSH DETOX SMOOTHIE RECIPE
  • 8 oz. of Water
  • Handful of Spinach
  • Handful of Kale
  • 4 Strawberries
  • 1/2 Banana
  • 2 Pineapples

*This had a little of a bitter taste. The next time I make it I would probably add more fruit to "sweeten" it up a bit, but overall this smoothie was pretty good...don't be frightened by the green tint

From time to time I will share my journey over the next 30 days with you my readers in hopes to encourage you to lead healthier lives as awesome fashionistas as well as hold myself accountable on this journey! I will share recipes, exercises, and overall feelings about the challenge! Wish me luck...better yet, join me!!!! You can find the Black Girls Workout DVD's and Meal Plans here: Newest DVDSecond DVDVideo I Own (I'm not quite sure why it's so expensive). You can find out more on Ellen & Lana's website Gymnetics Fitness. Have an happy healthy weekend luvs!
